MCSE - MICROSOFT CERTIFIED SYSTEM ENGINEER ON WINDOWS 2003

The Microsoft Certified System Engineer credential is the premier certification for professionals who analyze the business requirements and design and implement the infrastructure for business solutions based on the Microsoft Windows® 2003 platform and Microsoft Server software. Implementation responsibilities include installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network systems.

MCSE Job Titles:
  • Systems engineers
  • Technical support engineers
  • Systems analysts
  • Network analysts
  • Technical consultants

MCSE's have proven knowledge and skills beyond that of a MCSA's and will typically be paid higher salaries and be given more technical and managerial responsibility. While an MCSA will be managing the operations of a network, an MCSE will be designing the network infrastructure and both current and future network services requirements.

MCSE Requirements:

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) candidates are currently required to pass 6 Core Exams [Four networking system, One client operating system and One design exam] + 1 Elective Exams on the Windows 2003 track.

Together with the core exams, the elective exams provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise in solution design and implementation. MCSE candidates should also have at least one year of experience implementing and administering network operating systems and desktop operating systems.

Upgrade Exams: Microsoft has designed an upgrade path that will enable a current MCSE [on the 2000 track] to earn the Windows Server 2003 credential in a timely and cost-effective manner. Those who are certified on the Windows NT 4.0 track can also upgrade to the Windows 2003 version.

The tables below provide details on the exams and courses you can take in order to earn the MCSE certification:
1. MCSE on Windows 2003 certification
